Vegas under the Mob (better looking hookers & odds, free F&B, etc) vs. corporate bean counters ($8 water, $25 minimum tables, $40 parking, $50 resort fees, etc) & more corporatized Las Vegas memes!
Las Vegas is in a downturn and TDS sufferers have been trying to blame Trump saying it’s his economy and immigration policies scaring off foreign tourists that are to blame, but the truth is a bit more complicated:
Only 3.1 million people visited Sin City in June, down 11.3% compared to last year, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA).
Social media users have called out the high prices of everything from dining to parking, citing these and other reasons for staying away.
Robby Starbuck, conservative activist and host of “The Robby Starbuck Show,” told Fox News Digital it is not just prices that are keeping people out of Vegas.
“Now nearly everyone under 40 who bets seems to do it online,” Starbuck said this week.
“I don’t know one person under 40 who goes to Vegas regularly to bet or play slots,” he added.
“This trend will continue with younger people because, honestly, our minds are wired differently.”
The U.S. online gambling market in 2024 was estimated at $12.68 billion, according to Grand View Research.

Lawyer Robert Barnes was also recently on The Duran and was asked at the beginning his take on the US economy by first discussing Las Vegas which he noted is also dependent to some degree on international tourism. He commented how Las Vegas used to be run by the Mafia (who I don’t think were as greedy as the current corporate suits/bean counters who run the casinos…) and then by a couple of billionaire oligarchs who are now mostly dead - leading to a corporatized Las Vegas that has become a nightmare for working-middle class Americans where water costs $8…:

However, she has a more nuanced view as locals and tourists alike are avoiding portions of the overpriced corporatized Strip; but other areas are still packed and as a local, she needs to do some digging to find out where deals can be had…:

We took our kids to Las Vegas in the 80’s (it was the meetup place for a Grand Canyon rafting trip). Stayed 3 nights before the trip at Circus Circus, saw a family-focused show featuring pirate ships, went to a fancy new water slide park … and visited the LIBERACE MUSEUM! It was a wonderful mini-vacation, everything was clean, safe, and affordable. Never ever would we go back there now … it epitomizes everything we despise about our country’s currently dysfunctional urban pop trash culture. If our culture were a diseased, septic body (and I think it is just that), Las Vegas would be the pus-filled boil on its ass.
