Great moments in dietary science, "fat free / low fat" = Chemical sh*tstorm, what people put in their mouth vs. their hair, they are charging $20 to warm up food from Sysco and more fake food memes!
I grew up in Europe. Lots less plastics there, grocery shop gives you 5 and the rest you have to pay for. That is, the bags in which you buy veggies and fruit. You take your own shopping bags. Also had a father who grew most of our veggies. Mom bought glass bottle milk. Gramma still had raw milk, right from the cow. I now use real butter, olive, coconut or avocado oil. Preferable glass bottles. Strange that liquors don't come in plastic bottles!
Fascinating breakdown of the restaurant industry's reliance on pre-packaged food. The revelaiton that even places marketing themselves as "fresh" or "scratch-made" are mostly reheating Sysco bags fundamentaly changes how you think about dining out. What really strikes me is how the"fat free" movemnt of the 90s created this perverse situation where we ended up replacing natural fats with chemical cocktails that are probably worse for us.
I grew up on a farm in NW Iowa that, today, would be considered "organic". Back then, it was considered "old fashioned". From my dad, I was infused with the truth of organic. He had a lower yield of crops, but he knew he was taking care of the land and his/our health. In those days, he didn't receive higher prices for his crops, yet he persisted with his methods. That's integrity.

To be fair all the grass fed beef i get from a local farmer is all vacuum sealed and frozen. Though a lot of the time the seal doesn’t hold up 😕.
I simply don’t eat out much as it’s a huge step down in quality
