I am sure people will get upset about this. But the people I have seen use food stamps mostly fit the bill. I know some who have an income well over 2000 $ but still manage to get food stamps, and use their income to hair dressers, beauty salons, even fancy clothes. Some stamps can only be used for expensive brands, not the cheap store brands (a young couple new at the system wondered how come-and so did I!). Jobs should pay enough to feed you and your family. For those that don't get by, there should be help in budgeting! Several people I know lived for years on less than 800 a month. if they can, everyone can. Long coloured nails and blue hair are not a must to survive!

"Some stamps can only be used for expensive brands, not the cheap store brands" are you suggesting there might be corruption, I mean, lobbying and campaign donations influencing what can be bought? 🤨

I am not sure what kind of system of food stamps these young people used, but they had taken all the cheap brands, and an employee had to come put it all back and take other brand products. I was flabbergasted.

Honest follow-up: did you help them buy any of their food?

Did you hire any of them to work, even for a few hours?

How about a review of budgets and priorities?

I am not being mean. I encourage your empathy (understanding the difficukties/challenges of others). Now, I encourage your sympathy - actually changing some of your own behavior/actions to help out at a direct level?

I think you mean't to respond to Sue in the other comment thread... "Now, I encourage your sympathy..." HONEST FOLLOWUP: What do you expect to teach to or do with people like this who are already adults who have been living like this for generations? Their brains/IQs have probably been effected from the cr*p food and chlorinated city water and then there might even be some residual inbreeding if they are from certain cultures that bring the practice with them (don't get me wrong, alot of our ancestors would have been related/inbreeding since few people would have ventured more than a few miles from a home village where everyone would have somehow been related....)... about the only thing you can do is try to teach any kids there is an alternative way to live...

I have a small monthly amount to help people pay their electric bills. If someone at the store cannot pay their groceries, I have paid some for them. But like the author states underneath - that is about what you can do. In Belgium the government has social workers who help people sort out their bills, manage their money, and get by with what they have. There are no food stamps. Some people will get a small amount of money in hand. The system with donating these large amounts of food stamps is over the hedge - they will never learn to manage. (I know several who don't get by with 1 or 2 people on 2000+, and I know several who did get by with 450. The 3 first years of the scamdemic I had about 600$ to live off. Thankfully I do have a house, but that, too, costs!

I'll be shocked if any of these fat asses go fight for their food. That resembles work. And it cuts into screen time, manicure and tattoo appointments.

I helped a " needy" woman in our community move because her husband was in prison( for attempting to burn down a local politicians business for cutting his Medicaid) they have an infant born at 28 weeks , now a special needs toddler with legit health problems. She had me throw out nearly an entire truck bed full of food she got from the local food bank( which delivered it to her- small rural town) and food stamps. She"rested" while I did 3 days of packing and moving and she was pregnant again, in danger of early delivery. She fed the little hot dogs and chicken nuggets instead of the thousand of dollars of special food provided for her brain development. Did I mention she was over 300 lbs? Or the months of state provided birth control sitting unused?

Neither she nor her "husband had jobs.

"She had me throw out nearly an entire truck bed full of food she got from the local food bank" I am guessing people don't have a choice as to what food they get - meaning alot is wasted OR not what people want OR tax deductions for donors OR kickbacks to BIG FOOD + alot of people don't know how to cook and have no desire to learn....

So...EBT going unfunded means they can't eat?

Check me on this: they have literally missed the point that a government that gives you stuff (free food, in this case) can simply take those things away?

Corallary: proof, positive, that our current Public Education system has done far more harm than good.
