I have not yet encountered stories of North American natives massacring people as offers to the gods. There are some tribes that had a ceremony where man hooked their chests to poles and pulled their own skin apart.

I also seem to remember that they considered all soil to partain to God (or the gods) and that ground could not be owned by humans. Not sure if this were all the tribes or just a few. There certainly are some, that consider the soil sacred, and forbid to step on it or climb it (just saw a Tube where a rock in the West was considered like that).

I think it were only a few tribes in South-America who completely went off the chart, just like Lenin and the likes, and massacred their own and later everyone. Nothing new under the sun it seems

Mainly Aztecs BUT there were apparently some American tribes further to the north who were influenced by them and did stuff like human sacrifice/cannibalism BUT of course any stories/history like that would be suppressed these days...
