((Ezra Levant's)) *Rebel Media* isn't 'free media'. It's an anti-White Zionist propaganda outlet.

Most Canadians don't pay attention to Canadian media anymore. At least not the sane ones. For myself, I don't remember the last time I watched the CBC for ANY reason, including hockey games. They scream louder and more shrilly not because the audience wants to hear it, but because the audience is tuning out in larger and larger numbers all the time. And other than older Boomers, the Canadian media has almost no audience remaining.

JUNO News and Western Standard are two other Canadian non-government owned outlets.

My personal favorites

In addition to Rebel News, there is also Juno (https://www.junonews.com/) and the Canadian version of the Epoch Times (print media) -- and a few others below that are similar to Western Journal or Gateway Pundit but for Canada. Juno is very good, my favorite.

Rebel News is good too and does stories not just from Canada, but also from Australia and Europe sometimes, about the problems of mass immigration there. Rebel is also a conservative activist site, with petitions and campaigns to assist different groups persecuted by the government.

Juno has some top-notch opinion pieces and reports on things the corrupt "legacy media" will not. All three publications are constantly under attack from Leftists, and government investigations in the case of Juno.

Rebel reporters are often arrested and assaulted by police -- something you might expect to see in a third-world country.

There is also Druthers (https://druthers.ca/), which is print media that comes out quarterly and is distributed by hand by volunteers. I got the latest version of it just today.

More details:

- Epoch Times, Canada version. Print and online. It's a real news agency that was started by Chinese anti-Communists and has now grown into a legit international newspaper that Leftists hate. Has some of the best editorials I've ever read. Always provides critical commentary on the CCP. Does cost money, though. https://www.theepochtimes.com/canada

Sample story: "Beijing’s Suppression of Dissidents a Sign of How It Would Treat Countries It Influences"

- Juno News (formerly True North). Founded by Candice Malcolm, rebranded in 2025. Focuses heavily on issues such as mass immigration, freedom of speech, and government accountability. Fought a legal battle with the government to be recognized as official journalists during federal debates. Gets no government funds. Sometimes the CBC steals their stories or attacks them. https://www.junonews.com/

NB - Epoch, Juno and Rebel are the three best conservative media in my opinion. If you read just these three, you'd get pretty much all the Canadian conservative news you need. I completely ignore the CBC and other media sites, though sometimes I hear CBC Radio in my car and flinch at its blatant anti-Trump, pro-Carney Leftist bias. It's like CNN or MSNBC, but Canadian taxpayers have to pay for it to the tune of about $2billion CAD per year. In public places on the TV, it has merged into an unholy propaganda channel called CBCNN (CBC + CNN) that during the plademic had characters like Health Minister Dr. Tam or Justice Trudeau lecturing us not to be racists -- clearly patterned after Chinese State Media. Felt a bit like Big Brother in 1984.

Foreign influence of media

Canadian intelligence agencies have identified specific ways in which foreign powers like the People’s Republic of China (PRC/CCP) and Qatar attempt to shape Canadian discourse.

China

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians (NSICOP) have explicitly named China as the most significant foreign interference threat to Canada. CSIS states that the CCP has achieved a "covert takeover" of many Chinese-language media outlets in Canada. MNSICOP reports CCP attempts to influence mainstream journalists and executives via: 1) Purchasing advertorial inserts that look like news but are written by Chinese state media. 2) China offers "all-expenses-paid" junkets to China for journalists, which are often used to cultivate relationships and encourage favorable reporting. 3) Chinese-Canadian journalists who report critically on the CCP have reported receiving threats to their safety or to family members still living in China. 4) The CBC echoes or mimics CCP talking points and has faced criticism for its framing of China-related stories. The CBC and other legacy Canadian media constantly frame stories against Trump, and are credited with helping Carney win the last federal election.

Qatar

Qatar’s influence strategy is generally viewed through the lens of "soft power" and the funding of specific narratives rather than the more aggressive "clandestine" tactics attributed to the CCP. Qatar exerts global influence through the Al Jazeera Media Network. Al Jazeera Arabic carries Islamist-aligned content, while AJ+ (the digital English-language brand) focuses on Leftist Western social justice issues. The CBC adopts framing on Middle Eastern issues that aligns with Qatari-funded narratives, typically covering Israel-Palestine from a subtle pro-Palestine position (much like the BBC). Qatari-linked charities funnel money into Canadian universities and mosques. This influence is subtle, aimed at fostering a geopolitical environment sympathetic to Qatari interests, particularly regarding Middle Eastern conflicts. This also reflects a shift in Western journalistic "woke" culture or resource-sharing with international agencies.
