laughing at how Europeans see the US.. It is surprising how Europeans, my family included, see the US as one country. They will name a city without a state and think you will immediately know where it is. Say Springfield - but every state has a springfield, so which state? they don't know. When you say that each state has a different speed limit they think you are joking. Very funny, took me years to get my folks to understand!

this is why countries like CZechoslowakia and Yugoslavia burst ! they were fake countries, just like India and China. In fact, the US is even more a 'country' then these because most speak the same language. Even tiny Belgium and Switzerland speak 3 and 4 different languages. Seems like things go better in small communities - I think instead of trying for a world government, we should go back to as small govt as possible - it is obvious that big govt is not cheaper like BigGovt says - it is way more expensive, because you need the small (mayor) even the somewhat bigger (governor of a state) could be fine, but why these hundreds of 'representatives' of the people? they do not represent us, they are just filling their pockets!!!

I was born in Pasadena in late '59 and was a kid in the 60s and a teen in the 70s. Other than the summer smog (containing lead, carbon monoxide, ozone, oxides of nitrogen, and unburned hydrocarbons, and I'm still here!), it was wonderful. Reagan was governor when I was a kid. We were prosperous and safe. I lived in the Bay Area as a young adult during the Joe Montana era. That was great too. DiFi was mayor, but she did surprisingly little damage to the then-beautiful city. Nowhere near as much as she did after her promotion to the Senate. Left Cali in '97 and never looked back. I now live in the freest state, with nice weather like California, and no smog. At least where I live.
