Pocahantas Warren remembers, Columbus brought diversity to America, not all native traditions ended, make Columbus great again and more belated Columbus Day memes (actually its Oct 12th)!
the pictures are mostly from middle America like Aztec though. I read about the North American natives, that they were mostly peaceful. I am not sure if that is to be believed, even though the book was written by a native author.
The tribes were no different than Europeans e.g. some more warlike and brutal (like the germans, normans, anglosaxons etc) than others + I know one tribe on the plains mastered horses that had escaped from the Spanish and began to conquer all the other tribes etc. But yea, most people no matter who or where they are want to be left alone to live in peace - its the leaders who usually have other ideas...
Very poor history knowledge. From Aztecs, Mayans Incas, et cetera left a large number of accomplishment; many survived and remain unsurpassed: the Aztec calendar is superior (more accurate) than present Gregorian. Mayan calendar was even better than the Aztecs; No periodic adjustments are required. Superior numbering system, which include the concept of ZERO. Incas' construction and irrigation have not been surpassed, even with modern machinery.
Hmmm I know it was speculated on that those in the SW USA did or practiced human sacrifice b/c they were probably influenced by the Aztec further south - but that debate, like so many others, has no doubt been silenced... A lot of hearts still beating sacrificed to the gods and there was some dismemberment and serious torture by the Apache/Comanche. The coastal tribes seemed a lot more civilized or less brutal.
The Iroquois confederacy was the first true democracy and was established 600 years before the rest of the planet. Women could vote and if showing with baby were given 2 votes. They'd still skin their opponents alive but some good with the bad.
One of the founders, Deganawida, didn't have much to work with as one of the tribes was lead by a cannibal. Not a lot to work with but he managed to pull it off LOL.
That's outside of what's now Latin America; and Deganawida stories and mainly legend. Human 'sacrifices' are a sad chapter of human kind, not practiced by Aztec nor Mayas. The closest documented cannibals were in the Antilles.
You provided great information to me, which prompted me to do some research and I am grateful.
The Pocahontas Warren vid - priceless :)

- - No tribe in America practiced cannibalisms.
