Big corporations funds reits etc are buying up properties. Even if the market will crash (I'm not so sure it will) these "owners" are not under pressure to sell as an individual who has a mortgage to pay. So the result will be even less individually owned properties.

unless they themselves have borrowed money - then they will need to unload...

if the house is on the market for a long time, it might be better to wait till it goes off, contact the owner, and give the same offer. Without 'intermediate'. in our case the realtor owned the house. then there is no choice.
