b) Spent his teens using drugs bought with the money he made as a kid. Lots of money. Lots of drugs. Went broke. Did not learn what other kids learned in high school. Damaged his brain instead.

In "Weekend at Bernie's", they first showed us what a reckless a-hole he was, so the audience would be okay with him being dead for most of the movie. Similar thinking makes these people's deaths less painful to me after what they said about me and what they wanted done to me.
