It's stunning to consider all the newspapers and magazines we grew up reading and what they look like today. "Journalism" has been "Dead Man Walking" for a while now.

Have you read National Geographics from the early 1900s (very academic and not so east to read), then between the wars and into the 1950-60s-70s etc (getting much easier to read but still high-quality writing) versus now??? You can SUM up just how dumbed down we have become (+ the mags have gotten thinner and full of pharma ads) and I am not even talking about the woke garbage and climate-gender etc pseudoscience in them!

No, I gave up on that magazine a long time ago, but your point is excellent. My mother-in-law subscribes to the Smithsonian Institute magazine and I recently spent some time reading two recent editions - all "woke" content and full of the same Big Pharma ads.
