In rural America and Eastern Europe, people can go back to using their fireplaces and wood burning stoves - albeit wood has gotten expensive if you are not by a forest or an area with orchards...

Most houses use natural gas for heating - I have turned off my heating and I will not be able to use it all winter as gas prices are fucking insane.
Heating oil is insane in the UK as well but it is mainly used by rural homes.
