I remember buying coffee (which I only serve to guests) 2 years ago. It was 3.99. This morning it was 7.49. Next time I think I will serve everyone tea LOL
Removing coffee from the CPI when coffee price is high will result in greater CPI increase, because the subsequent decline wouldn't be recognized. However, it seems to me that they're just fooling around with the seasonal adjustment, and over a year it'll have no effect.
