I spent some time in the AF 20 years ago, long before it went woke. I've long had an affinity for the hardware and went to a few air shows when they came to town. A couple years ago they had the first ALL FEMALE show. Hard pass.
I believe guided missiles have rendered fighter jets obsolete. They can withstand more g's than any human pilot and can therefore accelerate faster and turn sharper than any human piloted jet. But fighter jets are way cool, so the Air Force wants more, and they're very expensive, so the military-industrial complex wants to make more so they can pick our pockets.
And those aircraft carriers are the next Repulse and Prince of Wales battleships that the Japanese sunk at the beginning of the war... and drones are making tanks and other stuff obsolete...
True. From a military perspective I think fighters will still be advantageous for a long time though. And they're really cool. 😉 But seeing the MIC for what it is, either way you and I are just paying for it all anyway. 🙄
