My father said that in his day they had to pay to see the bearded lady, the dog-faced boy, and someone with a paper bag on their head but I forget what that was - probably a covid maskee.

This seems at odds with their (liberals) current desire to peacefully destroy Russia in a global nuclear holocaust.
Russia basically returned to their old flag - minus the tsarist coat of arms... The western secular left hates traditional orthodox Christians - the one major sect they have not manage to ifiltrate, weaken and destroy.....
Communism's original slogan was: "Workers of the world unite; you have nothing to lose but your chains." The tools in the logo symbolized the working man, the original target of the sales pitch communism's inventor Karl Marx conceived for his insane idea of how things should be. He thought his crackpot notion would get rid of some of the uglier aspects of capitalism that exisetd in his day, e.g. dangerous working conditions in early factories, machinery with gears and belts on the outside that could take a man's arm off, after which he was no longer of any use to the factory owner, who then kicked him to the curb. Those early machines also put out a lot of toxic exhaust. And child labor. Those were indeed problems, which have since been solved, but NOT by communism. All communism did was create a whole bunch of new problems that never existed before. It does, however, greatly benefit those in power, so they keep on selling it with slickly packaged false promises. And the government school graduates keep on buying it.
BTW, Marx was born rich, rarely bathed resulting in skin lesions, and raped his maid.

The hammer and sickle is the symbol of communism, not Russia.
I did not know that and had always associated it with the USSR after the Bolshevik revolution.
