I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with subs and payment. I receive your emails just fine (AOL).

Already do ;) Have you noticed any traffic disruptions or anything unusually lately in your metrics? If people don't talk, then we will never know if something unusual is going on or what to be prepared for!

I don't think there was any traffic disruption lately. Logs look pretty normal.

Your site probably does not show up much in or get much traffic from Google or other Big Tech sources... Someone commented on Covid and Coffee that they got hit with a FB suspension due to an "On this day.." post from 10 years ago that showed up their feed. I bet their censorship software has been ramped up and is now hitting people on their old posts that FB puts into their feeds - may not even be intentional by FB (they are not exactly geniuses there...)

Yes, exactly. At one time, patrick.net was the top Google result for "housing market" and similar terms when I was writing about housing. But since I became less politically correct, the site was effectively banned from Google. I've returned the favor in the last year and banned Google from indexing patrick.net out of spite. I know my own site doesn't matter much, but if every site banned the Googlebot, Google would become nothing.

Does someone have a search engine or can one be developed to find or index banned or shadow banned sites that big tech hates? I rarely use Google search (only for very specific narrow searches) given all the garbage on there and the advertisements or paid for search results that clutter it... I dump useful links to alt sites into comments at https://covidsteria.substack.com/p/community-covid-resources/comments - not well organized but at least a way to share and keep track of them - like bookmarks...

Funny you should mention that. I had the same idea that there should be such a search engine.

Maybe it could be a crowdsourced heirarchical index.

Overjoyed I got rid of gmail and went with protonmail.com

Easy to do.

We may be talking past each other. I know that this type of censorship happens, I just wanted to let you know that this particular Gmail account in the UK is receiving your emails fine.

I have been checking my junk mail lately. A substack or 2 a day in there.

Some email providers are jumpy about sending stuff to spam...

Gmail of course has their promotions and social folders + spam... I have noticed with some email providers that if you don't open or delete a few emails from certain addresses without reading them, they will take it upon themselves to start sending all email from that address to Spam or Promotions etc - nothing nefarious about their software doing that... But with BIG TECH, you can't give them the benefit of the doubt :)

I don’t, just wanted to provide a data point. Also me being outside the US and unable to influence the midterms.

IF you are in Europe or have a Gmail account registered there, I would think you might be subject to even more censorship!

Also Margaret Anna Alice Writes Margaret Anna Alice Through the… replied to a comment of mine:

"Yes, I've had people tell me notifications were disabled without their knowledge, and there have been increasing numbers of disabled notices after each send. When I checked with Substack about this, they informed me that if Gmail flags my message as spam, notifications will automatically be disabled, so I believe this is likely occurring with Gmail and other Big Tech providers as well."
