Before I get to some vaccine passport memes along with social credit scores or digital currency memes BUT on a related topic:

The trends and metrics have been very unusual over the last several days…

Although I am steadily gaining subscribers, I have noticed a slight dip or rather a lag on views. There is also a bit of a discrepancy in the post metrics (# of recipients for a post) and the subscriber number stats (total # of subscribers) - the latter is higher and growing more than the former. I am not sure IF this might be due to Substack tweaks on how people receive posts e.g. signups, emails or the app OR other tweaks at the back end or with Substack search…

Since I seem to get VERY LITTLE traffic from Big Tech aka Google-Facebook-Twitter (maybe 1-2%+ over the past month), I have suspected it’s an email provider like GMAIL (e.g Alex Berenson had complained in the past of some email providers sending his Substack emails straight to spam or trash…) using key word software or blacklists; and that readers are just going to my Substack directly on their own over the following days... Substack metrics leave much to be desired (very basic) and they also make it unclear just where or how direct traffic comes to a Substack site…

With that in mind, another politically orientated non-Substack blog or website that I know of has reported their traffic is down by 25% over the past month. Basically, all new traffic coming from Google has stopped BUT regular visitors who already know about the site are still visiting them directly.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing as ALOT of Google generated traffic is GARBAGE e.g. people (or bots!) looking for something specific and stumbling on a website that does not have what they are looking for and for them to never return again…

On the other hand and over the longer term, Google et al might be how many regular visitors had initially come upon a (non-Substack) website or blog to become regular visitors… And it hurts ad revenue - assuming you can still get ad revenue or Adsense with a website or blog containing unapproved narratives…

HOWEVER, there is word going around that Twitter and Facebook are now cancelling or restricting accounts over naughty posts from years ago plus I just saw this on Gettr:

Obviously, Big Tech and political activists in collusion with them are ramping up the censorship like crazy ahead of the Midterms by trying to ban or shadow ban any dissidents who they suspect to have or be spreading opposing views.

Don Surber, who does an excellent daily news compilation at https://donsurber.blogspot.com (I am surprised a blogging platform owned by Google has tolerated him for so long!), has also complained about increased censorship in recent weeks. He eventually plans to move his blog to Substack at Don Surber’s Newsletter | Substack.
