I am not too sure how many readers or westerners in general are interested in and still following the war in Ukraine as the Western propaganda machine subtle tries to float new narratives. Ukraine Independence Day seemed to pass without a hitch or a provocation involving the nuclear power plant (RUSSIAsteria: Top 10 Ways to Stick it to Putin (Happy Ukraine Independence Day!))

From mostly reading the English language Telegram channels ASB Military News and Intel Slava Z plus listening to some of Kharkov based Gonzalo Lira’s recent interviews or shows, things are starting to move or fall into place as summer ends. What you need to know or watch for:

It sounds like the Russians are massing in Belarus again and are already starting to make offensive moves towards Kharkov and Nikolaev - the latter being the most important ship building port on the Black Sea.
When Nikolaev falls (or is cut off), the Russians can then easily move to link up with the breakaway region of Transnistria along the Moldova border. This would cut off the entire Odessa region (with many Russian speakers and sympathizers) from the rest of the Ukraine.
Apparently, the Turks may not like Odessa falling to the Russians as the Black Sea would increasingly become a Russian lake. There is talk that NATO could send a limited “peacekeeping force” (e.g. Poles etc) to Odessa as yet another excuse to provoke a wider conflict.
Once the Russians pulverize the remaining Ukrainian fortifications and lines in the East, there is nothing to stop them from reaching the Dnipro river (and for that matter, the borders of Europe). If the bridges get blown, the Khersen region, near Nikolaev, apparently contains the main stretch of river that can still be easily forded by an invading Russian army.
